After the centenary of Italo Calvino, the Mediterranean Theatre returns to its origins. An unprecedented, engaging and interactive show where the audience chooses how to proceed and what course the story should take.

A group of performers has to leave for an island where they will have to perform. What if the sea is stormy? What if these artists get stranded in their boat? How would they proceed on their journey without being able to move forward?

A book with a faded cover and torn pages, a book that speaks the dialects of our peninsula, the archetypes of Italic cultures, the legends imprinted in the gravel of the roads that connect Naples to Taranto, Livorno to Turin or even Palermo to Reggio Emilia.

On stage a table with scents, colours and essences linked to the chosen places and regions. It will be up to the audience to taste, recognise and choose which territory to immerse themselves in, which musical and choreographic tradition to discover.

Saturday 29th June: CONNECTED BY CULTURE. THE ROUTE OF THE PHOENIXES

6 P.M. - 7.30 P.M. - 20th Anniversary of The Phoenicians' Route

The Phoenicians' Route refers to the connection of the major nautical routes that, from the 12th century B.C., were used by the Phoenicians as fundamental trade and cultural communication routes in the Mediterranean. Through these routes, the Phoenicians, ingenious sailors and merchants, gave rise to a great civilisation, in some ways still little known, which established itself through expansion to the West, generating intense exchanges of artefacts, men and ideas, and contributing in antiquity to the creation of a Mediterranean cultural 'commonality' koiné and the circularity of this culture.

2003 - 2023 Twenty Years of the Phoenicians' Route

The Phoenicians' Route is the sixth itinerary recognised by the Council of Europe, within the Programme of the same name launched in 1987. It is therefore one of the oldest and has had its certification renewed seven times to date, demonstrating a great European and Mediterranean spirit, the commitment of hundreds of people working within the member organisations of the Route and the organisations that support it, working day after day to enhance their territories through the cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, that we have inherited from the generations that have followed one another in over 4000 years of history.

The Phoenicians' Route will stop at SEIF 2024 finding in the theme of 'Connections' and the sea as a sharing element symmetry of vision.
